Studio Sound Engineering

At Riversheen School of Music, you will have 700+ hours in the classroom/recording lab and studios. Classes meet 5 days a week, 30-40 hours each week. Half of the program is invested in the studio, where groups of five trainees focus on pre-production, recording live musicians, overdubbing, and mixing. The other half of the program takes place in our classroom/recording lab-- likewise a working recording studio-- featuring an API console, 2 isolation booths, patch bay, specific Pro Tools HD stations, and 3 65 ″ flat-screen TVs. When in the studio, it is always a maximum 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Every student:

has their own workstation. The student Pro Tools rigs are driven by Universal Audio's Apollo X user interface, including every plugin in the UAD collection.

has access to audio laboratories and equipment outside of routine hours, to deal with assignments and/or practice recording and mixing.

works together with market professionals and special guest coaches in the classroom and studio.

gain from on-site check outs to studios, mastering houses, locations, equipment factories, and other audio-related companies.

Riversheen School of Music is focused 100% on experienced-based learning-- the same mentor-based approach that's developed generations of Award-winning engineers and producers. You learn from and have access to genuine professionals with prolonged credits: engineers, producers, artists, professionals, acousticians, and other audio pros currently working in the market. You graduate ready-to-work in expert recording studios, through regular training under real-world conditions. We place a strong emphasis on industry mentorship through routine conversations with engineers, manufacturers, and others in the industry.

As a student, your schedule rotates every 2 weeks between the classroom and Riversheen Studio. In the class, each trainee has an Apollo/Pro Tools system that can record from the room's two iso booths through the API console/outboard equipment, along with record directly. Classroom work consists of sessions, demonstrations, guest check outs, hands-on and ears-on recording training, and site sees to many of the unbelievable studios and facilities in and around Colombo. In the Studio, students operate in groups of five in one of Riversheen's lots of first-rate spaces tape-recording live musicians-- providing you optimal hands-on time and contact with the musical skill, instructor, and guest engineers.
